A group of the "La Jeunesse" at the shore on Long Island, NY. Look at the mode of dress for the women, which included Blanche Gutman and Pauline Schwob, as compared to the beach photos later in this exhibit.

My grandparents on holiday at Thousand Islands State Park, NY. A fashionable retreat for the elite in the late 19th century, today the area is a hub for outdoor activities. It may have been a wedding of a friend.

The inscription under the photo reads (in French): "Far Rockaway - the last Sunday before my departure for Winnipeg the Monday, June 1923".

Clearly an outing for the "La Jeunesse", you can see they are getting ready to play a game of baseball. Note that men did not have casual clothes for play so they wore a suit.
