About
Coblentzclan was created to help keep my family together by sharing and offering the things we like to do: cooking, traveling, and researching our ancestry.
This specific site was created to share the story told by all the pictures my family has taken over decades, going back to the 1920's. The thing I marvel at is how my family's interests are woven into the threads of time.
My grandfather survived being a French cavalry officer in WWI and moved to New York City, where he indulged his passion for horses and people. He descends from a long line of rabbis and butchers. My family are such foodies I needed to create a site to document all the recipes we've tried and want to try. Reading and learning are so innate that one daughter is an English teacher, and the other is an archivist.
My grandmother loved nature. I saw that in my father, and I see it in my son to this day. My grandparents loved to travel, and so does my family. For a recent trip to Italy, the whole family started to compete to see who could complete the most lessons on Duolingo just for bragging rights!
I've realized that who we are is shaped by where we've come from. To understand what is in front of us, it is sometimes necessary to look behind. Besides, the pictures tell a really cool story.
